Maria Garcia Hernandez

María García Hernández is a Full Professor of Human Geography at the Complutense University of Madrid. She holds a PhD in Geography (UCM) and a degree in Documentation (UC3M). She co-directs the research group “Tourism, Heritage and Development” and has participated in numerous competitive research projects funded by the EU, Spain’s National R&D Plan, and AECID, serving as principal investigator in several of them. She has also contributed to many applied research contracts responding to the specific needs of public and private institutions. Professor García has held several leadership roles, including positions within the Spanish Association of Geography (AGE), Vice-Dean for Research and Doctoral Studies at the UCM Faculty of Commerce and Tourism (2014–2021), coordinator of the Interuniversity PhD Program in Tourism until 2021, and currently serves as UCM coordinator of the UNA Europa double PhD program in Cultural Heritage.

 

Francisco

Francisco Femenía Serra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography at the Complutense University of Madrid. He holds a PhD in Tourism from the University of Alicante, as well as a master’s degree in Tourism Management and Planning and a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Spatial Planning.  He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Surrey (UK) and Salzburg University of Applied Sciences (Austria). His work appears in leading journals such as Tourism Management and Journal of Sustainable Tourism. He has participated in national research projects and collaborations with institutions including SEGITTUR, the European Commission, and Invat.tur, delivered invited lectures internationally, and is a member of the Spanish Association of Geography (AGE) and the UCM research group “Tourism, Heritage and Development.” 

 

Ana Yánez Vega

Ana Yáñez Vega holds a PhD in Law and has been a professor of Administrative Law at the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid since 2000. She has more than twenty years of experience in the management of historic assets, having directed the Foundation of Historic and Singular Houses and the Legal Department of the municipal public company Madrid Destino. She specializes in cultural heritage and museum law, as well as in the legal framework governing non-profit organizations. She has published numerous books and articles on these topics and has participated in national and international research projects, as well as delivered lectures and teaching in many institutions in Spain and abroad. Since 2018, she has served as Secretary General of ICOMOS Spain and of Némesis, an association dedicated to the research and protection of cultural heritage against looting and illicit trafficking.
